Take A Breath is a series of wellbeing sessions, created as an opportunity for pause, generosity and community cohesion, where artists can come together in experiences that centre their wellbeing and sit outside of the creation process. In this first iteration we offer free experiences that cover notions of restoration, relaxation and retreat.

BODY NEST

Facilitated by  Zinzi Buchanan and Clay AD

As the days close in on us we welcome people to come together and share some tools for being in our bodies in restful and restorative ways.

We will create an environment where all bodies can find comfort. We offer a local retreat, where we can nest for a while and tap into our inner embers. By keeping things simple we hope that you can repeat some of the exercises in your own nests, alone or with friends, throughout the winter and beyond.

The session will centre topics that are needed at this time of year including: warmth, comfort, drawing from stored energy and honouring darkness. The session will be open and improvised based on the desires of the group at the time. Zinzi and Clay - have a large tool box of somatic and movement practices from which to draw and would like to offer this to the group. The focus of the session is rest and recovery for artists, all prompts will be adjustable for participants' access, needs and desires.

ZINZI BUCHANAN

Zinzi is a dance artist and facilitator who has been bringing people together in movement and ritual for over a decade. Their current practise is informed by chronic sickness, grief and divination and they find ways to be playful with limitations, courageous with the difficult topics and to connect our bodies to the world they are part of.
