Developing new work in collaboration with Lauren Barri Holstein Holy Water Hag Mouth (Riga; May 2024)

Holy Water Hag Mouth is a collaborative project about trauma, healing & transformation. Our time working with Studio Somewhere will nourish a new partnership, between LBH and FKA. Whilst our work has shared thematic concerns, our methodologies and aesthetics are distinct. Through collaboration we’ll synthesise these into new forms, thereby strengthening & diversifying our practices. This support to develop our creative practice comes at a pivotal moment for both of us, as we return to making work after periods of illness. After this transformational experience, we aim to make work in different ways, recognising the need for greater self-care in our processes and performances. This period will allow us to invest in a renewed engagement with the body and self-trust.

FK Alexander: “Lauren and I first met at TMS in 2019 when I was once again astonished by what this woman was putting on stage. I had admired her since 2014 when I saw her perform and had thought of her work many times in the process of making my own.

We are so grateful to have met each other at what is turning out to be just the right time. Many thanks to TMS for trusting and believing in us to help us make our instincts into a reality, especially in the current industry climate. “

‘It was such a joy being involved in a project that allowed me to work alongside and learn from other artists. Working on Manual taught me new ways of performing and conceptualising performance. I’m excited for any future collaborations that will arise from this opportunity as working so intensely together we became good friends, and I can’t wait to have them back in Glasgow!’
