Our artist creation space Studio Somewhere is closing its doors after its initial three year pilot. We set up the Studio to be a resource for Scottish artists that was broader than a biannual Festival could hope to offer; providing space for artists to test out ideas, connect with their peers, and develop their skills in a comfortable, fit-for-purpose environment.
We hope to be back with a fresh new space in the near future, but as we put it to bed for now, we wanted to celebrate the impact it has made.
Studio Somewhere has provided:
48 Residencies supporting artists to develop new projects
5 Embedded Creations; inviting international artists to develop new projects & connect with Scottish artists
304 Artists paid through Studio Somewhere programmes
11 Workshops centring wellbeing & practice
879 participants, audiences & workshop attendees engaged
Generated major international exchanges between Scotland & Québec, South Africa & France.
Sent Artists Elsewhere; supporting Scottish artists to perform internationally in Germany, Norway, Switzerland, Latvia, France & across the UK
Thank you to everyone who has joined us in this first phase of Studio Somewhere & thank you to Tramway for hosting us & Creative Scotland, British Council & Québec Government Office for funding us. We hope to be back with you soon.
