MARCH 2020:

At Take Me Somewhere we recognise the precarity that artists are facing. As part of our commitment to supporting artists in the current moment, and assessing how best to move forward together, we would like to offer one-to-one, hour-long, remote coaching sessions for artists working within performance in Scotland. We invite you to air the impact the coronavirus pandemic has had on you, to focus your plans financially and creatively, or simply use the moment as a supportive space; to talk, to connect, to think things through with no expected outcome. Each session will respond directly to the needs of the individual. We can offer each artist £100 as part of the process. Each session will be led by a trained coach and mentor. Notes of Interest by Fri 10 April 2020

Take Me Somewhere has the capacity to engage 20 artists in the one-to-one sessions, which will be led by trained coach and Take Me Somewhere Artist Relationship Manager Kim Simpson. After each session, each artist will receive a written document covering the session content and artist-identified actions, with any signposting of information and resources requested.  Conversations will be confidential. In some cases, and only with express permission, particular impacts or concerns of artists will be anonymised and collated, allowing us to consider how best to support artists and the sector moving forward.

A note of interest should be sent to connect@takemesomewhere.co.uk with:

  • Name and email address

  • A sentence or two on practice

  • A sentence or two on main concerns

  • Approximately how many years have you been practising?

  • Any information relevant to priority candidacy (see below)

Priority will be given to:

  • Artists not in receipt of regular funding

  • Artists working within live art or contemporary performance/dance in Scotland

  • Artists who are not currently supported by other organisations eg Artist in Residence.

  • Identify as having one or more protected characteristics, especially one that increases their risk in this context (i.e. mental health, neurodiversity, disability, single parents and carers, precarious socio-economic situation)

In the event we get too many applications that fit priority conditions we will work to speak to a breadth of artists from across disciplines and at a variety of stages of practice.
