SECTOR INITATIVES

We generate new thinking and foster wider change through strategic interventions and research, aiming to realise a more equitable, healthy and diverse Scottish cultural sector.

Heres’s a few examples of the kind of interventions, initiatives and projects that we’ve been involved with:

Artist Basic Income pilot 2022-2023
Summary of Findings

Take Me Somewhere’s Artist Basic Income Pilot Ran for 10 months October 2022 – July 2023.  We made this intervention in the sector, not as a general trial but as a way to show the impact of economics on those closest to us.

NEW DIMENSIONS COMMISSION

Battersea Arts Centre (London), Take Me Somewhere (Glasgow), Tramway (Glasgow), Transform (Leeds) and Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts (Brighton) have come together to support artists who are ready to dream big and create a new work of scale that can tour nationally and internationally.

Live Art Scotland Forum: Building A Better Residency

Building A Better Residency was a conversation event held in May 2022 to explore current practices and future possibilities for live artist residencies in Scotland.

PUBLICATIONS

We’ve been involved in several publications opening space for crucial writing and reflection on Live Art.

LIVE ARTS WRITER NETWORK (LAWN)

Responding to a critical need within the sector, this network seeks to provide much-needed space for reflection, critique, and experimental writing on live art, working with writers whose practice has been shaped by lived experiences of intersectional borders.

Artist Constellation

A development framework that seeks to nourish the festival, its programming and ethos, as well as contribute to the development of some of Scotland’s most innovative artists.

THE ADRIAN HOWELLS AWARD

The Adrian Howells Award for Intimate Performance is an opportunity for a UK artist to develop and present an early staging of a new performance-based project in Glasgow (Take Me Somewhere / BUZZCUT) and London (Battersea Arts Centre / Something To Aim For).

PACBI PLEDGE

Take Me Somewhere pledges support for the Palestinian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel (PACBI).
