Somewhere to listen, somewhere to sweat, somewhere to talk
From our year-round Studio Somewhere programme, we’re so delighted to announce new Autumn events, aimed at artist wellbeing and one-on-one advice.
First, Take A Breath returns this September with two sessions. Take A Breath is a series of wellbeing sessions, created as an opportunity for pause, generosity and community cohesion, where artists can come together in experiences that centre their wellbeing and sit outside of the creation process.
Take A Breath: <<< listening >>> in <<< out >>>
Listen Gallery
Saturday 12 September, 12pm–2pm
Free
This Take A Breath session will be facilitated by Riah from Listen Gallery, a sound arts gallery and communal listening space in Glasgow, and listening sits at the root of their practice. In this workshop we'll use gentle, playful sounding exercises to warm the body into listening, then find out where our sounds meet. By listening closely to one another and slowly adding our own sounds to the room, we'll build an experience of collective songing.
No musical or singing experience needed. Tea and refreshments provided. No age restrictions, though children should come with an adult.
Take A Breath: The Sauna Sessions
Saturday 26 September
Session One: 12.15pm - 1.45pm
Session Two: 3.15pm - 4.45pm
£10, including 60 minutes in the sauna and light refreshments
Glasgow Community Sauna
Join artist, movement practitioner and sauna host Simone Lore for a guided sauna experience designed to support, reflect, and rest as artists together. As the seasons begin to change and the metaphorical harvest is brought in, lets make space to reflect and frame any intentions for this coming autumn.
Bringing the steam of the sauna, natural body treatments, guided reflection and somatic work, this session offers a space for rest and gently focus self and community.
Somewhere To Talk: booking now open
Free, confidential, 45-minute one-to-one advisory sessions with the Take Me Somewhere team. Bring a project you're trying to get off the ground, an application you're stuck on, or the vaguer feeling that you're not sure what comes next.
Sessions are led by our Festival Manager Karl Taylor and Event Producer Alex Misick, and can happen in person at South Block on Osborne Street or online via Zoom. They're for artists based in Scotland who work in experimental performance and Live Art, open to artists at any level of experience, who are not currently in full time education.
Sessions are allocated first come, first served. BSL interpretation and captioning are available on request.
Any access requirements or questions about any of the above, email us at studio@takemesomewhere.co.uk.
