We spent the first weekend of September in Aberdeenshire with Stacy Makishi at Scottish Sculpture Workshop, the second of the two Do It Together projects we're hosting with the Live Art Development Agency.
We had a Campfire Disco! Stacy led us through the weekend, offering us time to make good and bad art; laugh, cry, swear, pray, bear witness; dance badly; forgive; and remember that there’s something larger than ourselves.
Take A Breath came back this month with <<< listening >>> in <<< out >>>, hosted with Listen Gallery.
Riah Naief led us through a series of gentle, playful sounding exercises, before we created an experience of collective songing. It was a gorgeous afternoon and such a treat to be in Listen Gallery's new space! It opens properly with a hafla on Saturday 26 September, an evening of live performance and poetry to activate the space.
The team behind NOW NOT NOW hosted a workshop of multi-tempo experiments. We performed our own morning routines, then ran them faster, slower, and piled on top of one another. Lots of giggles throughout.
It was a sold-out workshop, but luckily you can still book to see the show: NOW NOT NOW at Tramway 30-31 October.

We have a few spaces left on Take A Breath: The Sauna Sessions with Simone Lore, Saturday 26 September at Glasgow Community Sauna.
Join artist, movement practitioner and sauna host Simone Lore for a guided sauna experience designed to support, reflect, and rest as artists together. This session offers a space for rest and gently focus self and community. Simone is exploring ideas of the sauna as a context and space for intimate performance and creative gathering.
Our autumn workshops for artists with Tamm Reynolds and Selina Thompson Ltd filled up fast! But there are still spots on the waitlist for both.

The Scottish Government have committed to a basic income pilot for artists, named the Scottish Artists Minimum Income! We ran our own Artist Basic Income pilot for ten months across 2022 and 2023, a deliberate intervention and way of examining the economic realities facing artists. There's no detail yet on logistics, but Basic Income for Artists Scotland are pushing meaningful consultation with artists on the design on the scheme.
In August we offered bursaries to get Scotland-based artists with an experimental or contemporary performance practice to the Edinburgh Festivals. Five artists were able to hop over east, and see some performance goodies at the Fringe.
Thanks to everyone who sent photos of their day, we got to live vicariously.

Kirstin Halliday has a busy October - travelling to Warsaw for Body/Mind Festival, as part of Warsaw-Glasgow Express, our exchange with The Work Room and Nowy Teatr, which brings Ania Nowak to Glasgow in November for the other half. Then on to Birmingham for Fierce Jams Industry Day, presenting an extract of Desert Whiptail Grassland Lizards.

DYKE Systems Ltd makes it to Paisley Arts Centre on 9 October after being postponed earlier in the year. Fag Packet, Kheski Kobler and Holly Wilson-Guy take apart pyramid schemes and heteronormativity, somewhere between a corporate seminar and a queer fever dream 🪩
Ontroerend Goed bring Thanks for Being Here to the Tron, 22 and 23 October. The Belgian company turn the show on the audience: video, shifting perspectives, and the slow dissolve of the line between watching and being watched 🎥
THRICE from Al Seed Productions tours through October - a movement and sonic piece that unfolds in the aftermath of Macbeth. Led by nine performers (three sets of three, like the witches), it asks: who will heal the scarred land now? It's at Tramway on 16 and 17 October. 🩸
Sonica is back with a jam-packed programme of visual and sonic delights, including a whole takeover of Pollok House! Showcasing over 170 artists and musicians from 22 countries in 11 days of cutting-edge audiovisual art, visionary performances, installations and immersive experiences ✨
Shuffle Festival is back at Platform, a two-day celebration of hip-hop theatre, street dance and culture. Featuring performances by Scottish hip-hop artists, world-renowned Boy Blue and a special curtain raiser from Three60 Youth group, Shuffle shines a light on the people shaping street dance culture in Scotland today 💥
Hanna Tuulikki brings Deer Dancer to Tramway on 28 November. Hanna presented a digital version of this with us, and it has since grown into a live work - deer behaviour and performed masculinity folded into each other, hunting mythologies pulled apart, what Hanna calls a contemporary life-crisis ritual for a damaged planet. ⛰️
