A quipu is a textile artefact made from ropes and knots, woven by Andrean women as a form of memorial. Similarly, Wayqeycuna follows artist Tiziano Cruz as he takes the knotty path back to childhood in northern Argentina to reconnect with his community.

This intimate, politically-charged performance is rooted in archival work and unfolds as a poetic response to systems of racial hierarchy and structural domination. In a world where neoliberalism violently erases cultural memory and collective identity, Wayqeycuna is both an offering and resistance.

The work forms the final part of Cruz’s trilogy Three Ways to Sing to a Mountain, interweaving personal history with critical reflections on the art market and class privilege. Through carefully constructed gestures and rich visual language, Cruz invites us into his childhood memories to witness how remembrance can be a radical act.

Bread For the World

In the days before the performance, you’re invited to Bread for the World, a hands-on workshop where participants will bake bread alongside the artist. The bread made during the workshop will be used in the performance itself.
