Hello from Take Me Somewhere! 🌻
Happy Spring! We're popping into your inbox since you're on our artist opportunities database to bring you news and opportunities around the sector.
Reporting from Studio Somewhere
We announced our new studio space at CCA earlier this year. We had to change a few of our plans following CCA's closure, but we're delighted to be firing ahead as a roving studio - made possible with support from our wonderful partners at Tramway, Platform, Strange Field, the Tron and National Theatre of Scotland!
We were delighted to welcome MV Brown before the CCA closure, who used the residency to develop Body Proxy, pushing their digital performance research further. Find more documentation here.
We have also welcomed Eve Stainton as part of their New Dimensions Seed Commission; Cade & MacAskill to work on their upcoming performance Now Not Now; and Charneh Watson as part of the Emerging Artist Award 2025/26 (catch their performance at BUZZCUT in April!)
In case you missed it, we announced our 2026 Studio Somewhere Funded Residencies. Following our open call, the artists we’re supporting through funded residencies are Bea Webster; Kfir Lapid-Mashall; Peilin Shi; Sweætshops®; and Belladonna Paloma. Take a peek at their projects here, and stay tuned for more news and documentation of their residency time in the next few months!
International Connections
Our Festival Manager Karl has been on the move! He's been responding to some invitations, including Serendipity Exchange for the Arts in Goa and the ISPA Conference and Under the Radar in New York. These trips involved meeting artists, experiencing work and developing new connections for Scottish artists.
Our Artistic Director LJ visited MITsp, the São Paulo International Theater Festival for its 11th edition, where she was in congress with other programmers and artists including attending conversations as part of the Director's Circle.
She saw some incredible shows at the festival, and visited venues such as Farofa, Casa do Povo and Teatro Oficina.
News and Sector Support 🗞️
We want to take a moment to shout out to all the organisations at Trongate 103 who are going through so much instability. It's a matter close to our heart, having just lost our own space at CCA. You can find more information about their situation on their Instagram, and consider signing the petition to save these organisations from displacement and closure.
Take Me Somewhere are engaging with Metal's The Unlonely City project that aims to disrupt loneliness and nurturing moments of solidarity. We are delighted that Scottish artist Craig McCorquodale has been selected in the first round of their commissioning process.
Festival Manager Karl also attended BACKLASH: A Queer Cultural State of the Nation at Cambridge Junction earlier this month.
The conference included a sharing of first insights from research conducted by the LGBTQIA+ Cultural Barometer detailing experiences of backlash against LGBTQIA+ programming and creatives in the UK’s cultural sector over the last five years. The full report will be released in May.

Glasgow International have announced this year's line up! The festival presents an array of artists' projects across Glasgow. It's a busy programme! One of our top picks is SERPENTINE by Daina Ashbee, co-curated by Tramway and Dance North as part of RISE 2026.
And, of course, BUZZCUT approaches, and it is PACKED with joy, rage, movement, daydreams and other experimental performance goodness. The festival takes place 15 - 18 April, find the full line-up and book tickets (all sliding scale) here. We'll see you there 🫡
We'll be in touch again soon with more news and opportunities from Glasgow and beyond (we can't promise it won't be like this...thank you to TMS alumni Craig Manson for always humbling us).
