Alexander Roberts and Ásrún Magnúsdóttir are coming to Glasgow to research their next project Album.
Album is a performance project in which local listeners stage seminal albums in their entirety. Working with dancers, musicians, fans and community participants, each performance asks: what is an album, and whose does it become once released into the world? Every edition centres a different record connected to its location and communities. Performed by a “house band” alongside locally engaged participants, Album explores records as emotional, political and collective experiences: soundtracks to love, grief, belonging, resistance and everyday life. Each version becomes a portrait of the people listening.

About the Artists
Alexander & Ásrún have been working closely and intensively together for a number of years on a range of different dance and performance projects. Their focus as a duo has been on stretching the dominant modes of dance and performance, and developing work in collaboration with all kinds of people. Alex and Ásrún are always busy with thinking about who is missing from the stage, and try to include those people, bodies and voices in their work according to the concept or idea each time. They are interested in working with non-professionals, and making space for different voices to be heard and seen. Their projects always come from this heart. Together they have made works with teenagers, residents of a housing block, as well as performance situations for people’s houses, among other things. Their work has been well received at home and abroad – with a number of awards and nominations – as well as invitations to a growing number of venue and festival contexts in Europe.
