Take Me Somewhere endeavours to make the festival as welcoming and easy to engage with as possible. If there is anything we can do to make your experience more enjoyable please don’t hesitate to get in touch at molly@takemesomewhere.co.uk and we will try our best to help. Below you will find info on accessible shows in the programme, venue information & our ticket booking service.

Access Key

All performances in our programme are marked with a clear Access Key which identifies any access provisions that are in place:

V - Visual: Projects with this tag will be highly visual and contain minimal or no text.

S - Sound Based: Projects with this tag will be sound based, audio works, gigs or heavily text focused performances.

CC - Captioned: Projects marked CC will have live, or pre-recorded captions in English. These captions will express all text spoken, and any background sound that informs the action onstage.

BSL - Interpreted: Performances marked BSL will be interpreted by British Sign Language interpreters.

SP - Subpacs: Subpacs will be available for the performance; these are wearable vests that convert sound into vibrations. We have between 2-3 Subpacs available per show in Tramways main-space, and they will be available on entry to the performance. FK Alexanders show also features Woojer Straps; a similar technology which is a strap instead of a vest.

AD - Audio Description: Audio description (AD) is additional commentary that explains what's happening on stage. AD describes body language, expressions and movements, making the programme clear through sound. Also known as visual description. This will either be integrated into the performance for everyone, or described live via headsets which can be collected from the box office.

TT - Touch Tour: A touch tour will be available prior to the show. Performance specific info will be provided on the show page.

TICKET BOOKiNG SERVICE

This year we are pleased to offer a ticket booking service to blind, partially sighted & visually impaired audience members or those who may find any venue’s websites inaccessible.

To make use of this service please email Molly@takemesomewhere.co.uk & include:

  • Your Name

  • The shows & dates you wish to book for

We will invoice you for the total amount, and then book the tickets on your behalf. Please allow a week to process booking requests. This service will close for new requests on Monday 9th October.

Content Notes

We have included 'content notes' on the individual show pages. These will highlight if the project includes reference to; sexual violence, graphic violence, emotional abuse, child abuse, domestic abuse, miscarriage, terminated pregnancy, experiences of racism, ableism, homophobia or transphobia, alcohol or substance addiction. We appreciate this list is not comprehensive and encourage you to get in touch if there is a particular subject matter not listed you wish to avoid.

The Content notes will also include physical aspects of performances such as strobe, haze, smoke, loud noise or scent. They will highlight whether there is audience participation & how you can indicate how to opt-out. They will also note whether audiences are offered food or drink during the performance.

This year we are pleased to offer a ticket booking service to blind, partially sighted & visually impaired audience members or those who may find any venue’s websites inaccessible.

Venue information

All venues at Take Me Somewhere are wheelchair accessible, with access to wheelchair accessible toilets. Tramway & CCA have access to gender neutral toilets & when working offsite we endeavour to provide temporary gender-neutral toliet options, however this is not always possible.

early entry

If you require early entry to Tramway & CCA shows due to accessibility reasons please ask for an early entry band at box office. This will indicate to Front of House members that you can enter the space 1 min prior to general entry.
